Ecostyle is one of the most demanded and beloved by many designers and architects today. What does ecostyle mean for designers and how to use it in the interior - we will tell in our review
The advantages of using natural materials and technologies have a positive effect on the most important thing that we have - on health. In addition, the turbulent life of megacities is increasingly forcing us to look for harmony with nature, if not in the city, then at least in our own eco-interiors. On how to relate to eco-interior in Russia and abroad, we talk with the designer Stanislav Orekhov.

Visualizer, head of his own studio, author of the largest online design school in Russia. Permanent participant of thematic exhibitions and conferences.
Ecostyle distinguishes the use of natural materials - wood, stone, fabrics and maximum integration of space with the environment. The conciseness of eco-interior is one of the main principles of design projects.
Speaking about ekoidey in architecture, it is worth noting the difference between the Russian and Western approach. In Europe, the main principle of eco-interior is the maximum saving of resources, where much attention is paid to the technological component of the interior.
First, it concerns the use of reproducible and recycled materials, such as cardboard, chips, wood, glass. By the way, if you delve into the questions of certification of eco-interiors, the status of the future eco-facility is also influenced by the use of local materials, mined or produced not far from the construction site.
Therefore, in their projects, designers can use original solutions made to order by Russian craftsmen - it will look more original and cost less than a custom position from abroad.
Of course, all materials must have the appropriate certificates, be safe and hypoallergenic.
Eco-Interiors for a European customer are equipped with energy-efficient lighting, water consumption regulators, kitchen dispensers and emergency water cut-off devices. These seemingly small things on a city scale give impressive results. Thus, the European approach to environmental friendliness is the economy and optimization of both the resources in decoration and the funds for repairs.
Stanislav Orekhov, interior designer:
- In Russia, the approach to environmental friendliness is different. Here, at the forefront is the unity with nature, the desire to create an interior in the house where expensive, high-quality, natural materials are used to the maximum. For many, the concept of "eco-interior" is associated with the terms "luxury", "prestige" and "quality".
In our projects we always give preference to the use of natural wood and stone in the interior. These materials are not only environmentally friendly, but also have excellent color and texture properties, on which the idea of the whole interior is built. Wood can be organically diluted with glossy furniture surfaces, decorative wall coverings or soft textile decoration. For many customers of eco-projects, details are important, for example, elements of ethnic motifs or natural fur.
Of course, eco-interior can be implemented in the economy class. Here, the designer needs not only to break his head over the search for affordable eco-materials, such as natural travertine, PVC coatings and plywood sheets, purified from formaldehyde, but also to show imagination. For example, wall materials from compressed wood shavings or furniture from old pallets look absolutely fantastic.
As for planning decisions, the issue of environmental friendliness here can be solved by combining spaces and using the maximum number of translucent structures as walls and partitions. A lot of light and air - this is one of the signs of eco-friendly interior. This is especially true in the Russian weather conditions.
Summing up, I would like to note that eco-style in the interior is a great opportunity to show your creative potential to the designer. Decorative solutions based on old things, all kinds of alterations, hand-made, non-standard designs designed to optimize the space - all this makes the interior non-trivial, stylish and, most importantly, environmentally friendly.
